My grandmother was also into crafts and sewing. She made all her Christmas ornaments and crocheted also. When she had to go into the nursing home 7 yrs ago I asked for her sewing machine and I knew I would get all her ornaments (I was the only granddaughter-yes I was spoiled by her!). Her machine is a Kenmore that is probably older than me but it's great machine.
The machine stayed in the laundry room at our house never being touched until we moved 2 yrs ago into a larger home. There was the perfect spot for it in my bedroom. So about a yr and a half ago I started making my daughter some clothes. The first was a tshirt dress. Then I began venturing out to things a little more difficult. Here is a pic of my first tshirt dress. Isn't she cute !!!!

I found out on April 15th of this year that we were able to get private insurance for our family at a great price. That was what I working for so I got to quit my job of 8 yrs. I loved my job but wanted to be home so bad. I then learned how to knit. The lovely ladies at Knit Unto Others taught me how to knit and I caught on quick. I carry something with me all the time so I can work on it if I'm just sitting. I started a sweater last week and had to start over yesterday....I think I finally got the hang of knit/purl/knit/purl.
One other thing I wanted to learn how to do was quilt. My son loves his Night Night (the quilt my Granny made us for our wedding) so the tradition will continue. I joined the local Quilter's Guild this fall. Yes I'm the youngest but who better to learn from than the professionals! Right now they are working on a quilt that chances will be sold on to make $$ for the Guild. Can't wait to post pictures of it.
Here is a picture of my sewing space...It's the corner of my bedroom and the bed...yes I use my bed! (And yes that is a golf bag in the corner...I need to sew up a pocket so we can put it in the yard sale)
So now, I have my little sewing business and love it! That's my story...what's yours?
